                         Course Description

       This P.E. course is designed to foster the values, beliefs, and practices to help students develop a lifestyle that will result in being “Fit for Life”.  The department teaches students to understand the human body, how it functions, and how physical well-being relates to our mental, emotional, and social well-being. This course will provide insight on multiple weight training practices and principles. Students will learn to design a weight training and conditioning program to progress them towards their unique personal goals.

Santa Monica High School seeks to provide students with the opportunity to foster continued improvement of skills in order to become efficient, knowledgeable and self-confident individuals who can successfully participate and manage a healthy and active lifestyle.The goal of the department is to offer our students diverse experiences in multiple activities. Each student will manage and maintain fitness levels and acquire skills and knowledge to participate in recreational lifetime fitness activities. In addition to the physical domain, students will develop a more positive self-concept, improve critical thinking skills, increase their appreciation for individual and cultural differences, and exhibit appropriate social and emotional behaviors.
